Dogs are naturally curious creatures, eager to follow their nose into all kinds of trouble! For a dog living with the safety and protection of a loving family, curiosity usually leads to nothing more than huge messes and oddball behavior. However, curiosity can be lethal in the unforgiving wild and city streets that strays live in.

Take, for example, the story of a dog trapped by a bottle! In the streets of a busy city, an individual snaps a picture of a large dog walking around with a plastic bottle over its head. It likely ventured into the bottle for food or water, only to get stuck.

The problem was that the bottle prevented the animal from eating, and its struggles showed through its emaciated body.

The Kindness of a Stranger

The photo of the bottle-headed dog spread rapidly, and several volunteers leaped into action to develop a rescue plan. They returned to the area where the individual originally spotted the dog, roaming the streets to find the helpless animal.

They started in the early morning, spending the entire day searching. The team was on the verge of going home and trying again tomorrow when, at 2:00 A.M., they found it.

However, it escaped to a nearby hill. The team marked the location and returned in the morning to find her living amongst cement pipes, still struggling with the bottle. Despite its clear handicap, the dog was resilient. It didn't let anyone approach it, fleeing to safety at the perceived threat.

The rescuers decided to wait, calling on other volunteers. In the meantime, they allowed it to rest in the cement pipes. Later in the day, several more rescuers arrived at the scene to hash out a plan. When the time was right, the group positioned themselves to surround the dog. They even launched a drone to keep an eye on its position from above.

A man approached the dog. It ran, but others followed to finally catch it with a net. The female dog hadn't eaten in days but still ran fast. Fortunately, the rescuers were faster!

Free at Last

The dog was fearful, writhing its emaciated body, trying to escape. However, the rescue team knew she wouldn't survive another day without food. They calmed her down before attempting to remove the jar. It was stuck tight, and the dog's saviors had to use several sharp tools to remove the plastic material.

It took time, but the humans finally freed the dog. Her reaction was surprising! The struggling dog didn't show aggression. Finally free of her plastic prison, she was able to breathe. The team noticed she was weak and immediately took her for treatment.

The team wondered how she found the strength to run. At the animal hospital, she was so weak and hungry that she could barely stand. Her legs shook with every step.

The veterinary professionals conducted a full examination. They concluded that she hadn't wandered long, but her severe malnutrition made eating dangerous. The team needed to replenish her fluids. They did so, performing additional tests in the meantime.

She was so hungry and emaciated that her liver and kidneys had significant damage. It wasn't something the animal hospital could fix quickly.

Jar Jar's Recovery

The dog needed time to recover. After allowing her to rest, the team kept a close eye on her. While she was still weak and scared, they saw her tail wagging–a sign of hope! They named the dog "Jar Jar" and began her slow road to recovery.

Throughout the night, Jar Jar didn't eat much. She was dangerously thin and suffered from malnutrition, but the dog refused to eat standard dog food. The vets alerted her rescuers, and they took it upon themselves to cook her food at home.

The next day at the animal hospital, they warily fed her the home-cooked meat. After some trepidation, she finally ate! Her heart was warming up, and she showed less fear of humans than the day before. With her rescuers nearby, she even felt comfortable enough to sleep.

Over several days, Jar Jar became even more comfortable. She became more accepting of cat food, scarfing it down amidst prepared meat to regain strength. With ongoing fluid transfusions and a restored appetite, Jar Jar began to fill out. She was still thin, but Jar Jar's days of struggling with malnutrition were over.

A Chance at Survival

Jar Jar's recovery will take several months, but the dog's acclimation to a life of protection and love will make the journey far easier.

She slowly opened up to her large team of rescuers, showing modest signs of affection while accepting their generosity. A dog that likely spent most of its life living in squalor is well on its way to a miraculous recovery!

To think that her new lease of life was thanks to the action of a kind stranger. Had that individual not snapped a picture and alerted rescuers, Jar Jar would have likely died of starvation, cold and alone living among construction materials.

Now, she's surrounded by loving humans who will support her every step until she's ready to find her forever home!
